Following on from this the EU Commission announced their proposal for the final version of the ePrivacy Directive due to come into force the same time as the GDPR – next May
It seems the measures are not as draconian as first thought particularly for B2B media not targetted at consumers or sole traders/unincorporated partnerships and their employees.
It does seem like now is the time, though, to give your readers more choice as to what they want to see – particularly if you want to keep them engaged and subscribing. Your web sites have the potential to deliver relevant content (based on client journeys and preferences) and so can your email communications – be they from your company or on behalf of 3rd parties.
